Presuppose

  1. To believe or suppose in advance.
  2. To require or involve necessarily as an antecedent condition.

n.

  1. The act of presupposing; an antecedent implication; presumption.
  2. That which is presupposed; a previous supposition or surmise.

Following are some presuppositions which I have made about my audience and will craft my messages accordingly: 

  1. You have the ability to maintain some level of open mindedness and have the ability (limited or otherwise) to see another’s perspective objectively.
  2. You have a reasonable sense of humor (I will just cross my fingers that it is compatible with mine)
  3. You desire to connect and relate to others, even if your outward projections would seem to contradict this desire.
  4. You are reasonably intelligent and/or know how to use Google to define words you don’t understand.
  5. You have a “moral code”, whether innate or acquired, that you try to live your life by.
  6. You have the ability to discern truth whether through intuition or through logic.
  7. You have a desire to positively affect the world and those around you.
  8. You have a hard time understanding the perspectives of those who see things differently than you.
  9. You will not change thoughts or behaviors unless circumstances force you to.
  10. Your faith is a result of your life’s path
  11. Your preconceived notions about life, the world, and the people in it shape your reality
  12. You believe in your potential, but may not believe in your ability to reach your potential

Following are some traits that you may have which will prevent you, the reader, from finding any use from this site:

  1. You have more answers than questions.
  2. You would rather have others believe you’re right than admit you were wrong
  3. Once you chart a path, you find it difficult to turn around. (Philosophically Speaking)
  4. You know what you know, think you know what you don’t know, and know that you’re right.
  5. Your current circumstances are due to the effects of actions of someone or something other than yourself
  6. You have a bias, based on subjective motives, that you won’t acknowledge so therefore you can’t navigate around.
  7. You don’t have the ability to defer judgement for any length of time.
